In May 2020, a special edition of Giving Tuesday was organized across Canada to raise awareness of the importance of supporting community organization during the crisis.
This was an opportunity not to be missed to promote the impacts of the Y’s programs. Our teams swung into action and created a Facebook Live event like never before. A dozen live workshops were offered one after another. They included tips for parents on how to motivate their teens, story time and crafts for little ones, a kickboxing class, and even, a campfire singalong with the Camp YMCA Kanawana team!
Of course, the event also aimed to raise money to support all these programs. Thanks to the generosity of our community and the Trottier Family Foundation who doubled donations, we raised $81,520! A big thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of this initiative.
A charitable organization whose mission is to encourage and inspire all people to fulfill their potential, thrive and contribute to their community, the YMCAs of Québec offer programs in more than 30 points of service and virtually across the province, as well as operating an International Language School, YMCA Residence and Camp YMCA Kanawana.
Thanks to financial partnerships with different levels of government and the generosity of its volunteers and donors, each year, the YMCA helps more than 120,000 people to develop their skills.
As the first YMCA in North America, the YMCAs of Québec have been present in Montréal since 1851.
Since 1984, the YMCAs of Québec Foundation supports the mission of the YMCA and ensure its financial sustainability by promoting the impact it has on the community, raising funds and administering these funds responsibly.
